Maintenance and Storage of Your hair straightener -

There are many different brands of hair straighteners on the market today and the type which is best suited to you will be determined by what kind of hair type you have.  However, whichever straightener you decide to choose, due to the fact that most of us use hair styling tools of some description on our hair for one reason or another, great care should be taken to ensure that it is properly maintained in order to get the very best results when you are styling your hair. 

 

There is no magic formula for keeping your hair straightener clean – it’s quite simply a case of a wipe over with a damp (but not wet) cloth.  When you have turned the straightener off and it has cooled down but still a little warm, before putting it away, have a quick look to see if there is any residue from hair products left on it and if so, remove as suggested above. There is no need for anything other than a damp cloth and chemical solutions should NEVER be used to clean your straightener.  Cleaning is not likely to be required every time you use the equipment but it pays in the long run to get into the habit of checking each time and this will stop a build up of substance occurring. 

 

Once the hair straightener has completely cooled and it is cold you can then put it away until the next time you need to use it.  Your hair straightener is best kept in a place which is safe and dry and specifically out of the reach of children.  If your straightener has a power cord, make sure you do not wrap the cord around the equipment as this will cause it to eventually weaken and in the long run it may even break completely.

 

As with any electrical item, if you intend on taking your hair straightener away from home, make sure you pack it safely and securely so as to reduce any possible risk of damage, once again checking that the cord is not wrapped around the appliance.

If you keep your hair straightener in good condition and store it properly when it is not in use you are likely to be able to straighten your hair with it for years to come and it will still look like it is a brand spanking new piece of equipment.
